KIDS SEWING CLUB

Mondays 4-5pm
From January 11th to February 15th 2010
The course costs just £40 for all 6 sessions, all materials included.
A six week course for the over 8s to learn basic hand-sewing techniques
whilst making small toys and household items.
All children will be encouraged to take their sewing kits home and try out other stitches and add to their class projects.
All sewing equipment and materials will be included and all students will learn how to use an iron and a sewing machine safely, whilst being closely supervised.
Week 1:
The children will all be given their own fabric sewing kit, comprising a small fabric and paper needle book containing needles, pins and photocopied instructions on how to do simple stitches. The first lesson will be on how to use these safely and to make a small patchwork for the cover.
Week 2:
Small House - We will make a small felt house. These can be made into sand-filled doorstops or kept as keep-sake pots.
Week 3:
Bunting - With the letters from their names on it, using bond-a-web and an iron and hand-stitching.
Week 4:
Start a Simple Padded Toy - A two-week project, using a paper pattern and pins.
Week 5:
Complete the Toy – I will have a sewing machine for the children to have a go on (supervised at all times).
Week 6:
Simple Garment for Dressing Up – Net skirt, superhero cape or other, yet to be decided.
