This practical workshop will introduce and explore some of the classical yoga breathing practices, which can give a valuable resource amidst the inevitable challenges and stresses of daily life.

The day will start with some gentle hatha yoga, to help prepare for the different breathing practices that will follow. There will also be the chance to experience the deep relaxation practice of Yoga Nidra.

Pranayama is generally defined in the classical texts as breath control or breath extension. In everyday life,  breathing practices offer a means of improving health, wellbeing and vitality, and can also act to directly calm, balance and clarify the mind and emotions.

The workshop is aimed at students who have some yoga experience and wish to further explore the breathing practices often found at the end of class, as well as more experienced students who would like to deepen their practice.  The breathing practices are suitable for students of all traditions of yoga.

Krishnaprem is a gentle and inspiring teacher, who is regularly invited to teach around the UK.  He is based in Mandala Yoga Ashram in south west Wales, where he has lived for several years.  His style of yoga draws strongly from the Satyananda yoga tradition.

‘Inhalation should be regarded as a gift, the exhalation as an offering. The breath rises in Silence and disappears in Silence. These are precious moments, windows into our real Nature'
