Silk Painting
with Hilary Simon
Sunday November 23rd, 2008 10-4pm
£55 plus £5 materials

Silk painting is an enjoyable media where everyone can
produce a masterpiece!
Come and join Hilary Simon as she shows you how to create a design, select colours and paint the fabric.
You can make a cushion cover or wall hanging – and draw inspiration from Hilary and the large selection of reference books and cards available. Bring any pictures or ideas along!
The workshop covers the classic silk painting technique (Gutta), and explores the different techniques with salt and alcohol.
There are many rich and bright dyes to choose from – and we will cover the various ways to mix and dilute the dyes.
Beginners should leave with a good grounding in the basic techniques, so that you can work on your own after the class.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with a little more experience and children over 12 are welcome, too. No design or drawing skills are necessary.
Bring your own brushes for painting, and palettes if you have them – and an apron or protective clothing.
Discover the magic of painting on silk!
Head of Costume at GMTV Breakfast Television, Hilary Simon also has many years experience leading workshops in silk painting around the world and exhibits work internationally.
