This weekend course will instruct students through the various stages of mosaic making. Jo will give both practical and creative guidance on how to produce a design, choose the most suitable method to make it and decide which grout colour to use. Jo will give a brief talk about the various techniques and materials used and a demonstration on tile cutting before students are asked to prepare a design. Reference books will be provided for inspiration but students may wish to do some research prior to the course. A variety of materials including glass, mirror and unglazed ceramic will be supplied free of charge and in addition students are encouraged to experiment with any material they may have been collecting at home.

Each student will complete the course with a finished piece to take home - such as a decorative item or a mirror frame. Material costs are included and students are supplied with a 30cm x 30cm unframed board, a mirror if required, glass and ceramic tiles and all the necessary tools.

Students will have the opportunity to draw on Jo's extensive design experience - as well as learn the technical skill of mosaic making.
Jo is an experience teacher and has been leading workshops for the last ten years.
